Brown Swiss Australia has a focus on youth development and encouraging younger members to participate in a wide range of shows and dairy industry youth development opportunities. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for news and updates.

Our major event for the year is The Youth Challenge, held at International Dairy Week (IDW) in January. IDW is the largest annual dairy cattle show and sale in the Southern Hemisphere and is amongst the top five shows in the world.

The Youth Challenge is a competition involving all aspect of the show ring (clipping, judging and handling) but also team members are judged on teamwork. This is a team event of up to ten per team with at least 3 junior members (under 15 years).

Brown Swiss Australia youth members from all Australian states participate alongside youth teams from other breeds.
